Thanks, William.  Actually, I found them a short while ago, but it's not that 
simple.  I logged out to give gpg a clean start, but found that it spawned 
lockfiles then took 99% cpu time, getting no further and I had to kill it.

I've even tried removing gpg and all related packages, then reinstalling them, 
but the problem's still there.
