thanks for reply
maybe my question was not clear enough:

i have
- on one partition fc6t3 (i386) and
- on another fc6t3 (x86_64) installed.

i *want* to do
- sharing a directory containing the yum cache from *both* systems
- and configuring the path in /etc/yum.conf on *both* systems to point to the same *single* yum cache directory.(and of course configure keep=1)

i know x86_64 repo containing i386 packages/libraries with the same name.

for instance i'm on the x86_64 system and do yum update.
yum downloads for some packages the i386 version *and* the x86_64 version.
so far so good.

if i afterwards switch to the i386 system and hit yum update.
what will happen ?

will yum install all the i386 packages without complaints ???
is the box afterwards completely healthy ???
