Could someone who uses Livna and its version of MPlayer tell me where it looks for codecs? Is it /usr/lib/win32 (which is supposed to be deprecated) or /usr/lib/codecs?

I've been using /usr/lib/win32, and I have /usr/local/lib/win32 linked to it as well. Ric

Use the source Luke!

A little grep will show that mplayer searches all the directories, /usr/lib/codecs, /usr/lib/win32, /usr/local/lib/codecs and /usr/local/lib/win32. Links not required.

So put your codecs in /tmp/codecs where they will be safely hidden.

Until tmpwatch deletes them. Had this happen to me with some pictures.
