Thanks for your efforts, but I haven't made any progress. I don't
understand some of the suggested reading!
I have tried earlier, and later ieee80211 versions, but nothing changes.
I have tried both ipw3945-1.0.0 and ipw3945-1-1-0.
As I also use "remove-old" during this time, I have to keep
re-installing the kernel. Not all convenient when I can't use the
wireless interface!
Now I have tried installing from RPMs. This only succeeded in producing
a "spin"error on logon.
Am I supposed to use a ipw3945-kmod or is this just another name for
the driver?

Hi again DP!

Mike, Andy, and Mikkel are much more expert than myself. From thier
reply (which I do hope you got):

---------------------------------------
I have 3945 running on a Samsung Q35 with the same kernel without problems. My
method is detailed at http://www-users.york.ac.uk/~mdc1/samsung.html

Ditto... as Mike says on the page on recent kernels you can ignore the
ieee80211 stack update business. I would start over using Mike's
reference but ignoring the ieee80211 stuff altogether.
---------------------------------------

The link and it's references look like gold for anyone doing what you
are (I feel it is in my future).

I regret distracting you and hope you do find success.

Good Hunting!

Tod
