Thanks, Joachim. I have just done that, but it is strange that as a normal user, the quality of the image looks fine, but when I run a graphical program as root, I get a bad quality image. A screenshot is at: http://phhs80.googlepages.com/graphics_card.png Any further ideas? Paul
