Well to put simply one can configure wired and wireless networks using
system-config-networks. The results of the configuration will show up in
the files with /etc/sysconfig/network
and /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-ethx. ifup ethx will, read
these files and bring up the interface. The configuration can also be
done with ifconfig (wired) or iwconfig (wireless).
