Bingo! I've tested on a different machine and works perfect.

The only problem remaining is, that to be able to get correctly composed
CD, mkbootdisk should be ran on restarted machine, with all the
required modules loaded and a valid /etc/fstab file. But to restart the
box (even to finish the installation process) I need the boot able CD,
and the circle keeps going round :-(

Any suggestions on that ?

After completing the install, boot the install CD/DVD using "linux rescue", which should find your install and give you a shell.

Do:

# chroot /mnt/sysimage

Make sure the fstab and modules.conf is correct, then run mkbootdisk.
