You may want to take a look at /etc/DIR_COLORS, if you are the superuser.

Somewhere near the top of the file, it states some configuration
directives usable to you:

COLOR tty|all|none (use 'none' to remove all colorization from your machine)

and the terminal types you want to colorize.
