no its on an ATAPI-IDE controller. the manual mount is "mount -t iso9660
/dev/hdd /media/dvd" .. no probs at all

thing is ... if I insert a data CD ... it gnome-mounts perfectly ... if
i put in a data DVD ... it crashes ..... same physical device ... only
difference is a CD or a DVD disc

the gnome-mount error is "a unexpected error occured with gnome-mount"
with options to restart gnome-mount or not.

Try messing with the settings for Removable Drives and Media, see if
turning off some of these helps:

Auto-Run programs on new drives and media
Perform action on blank discs when inserted
Play video DVD disks when inserted

Try others, too.

fiddled with all of those settings ... in any case theonly setting I want is automount ... i dont want anything else to happen ... but yeah ... played with all desktop accessible settings to no avail ... there must something under the hood
