Can the disk be read at all?

    # dd if=/dev/dvd of=/dev/null bs=2048 count=10000000

That should read as many blocks as written.  If it fails after 1 block,
well, I've seen that but don't know a cure other than not to use cdrecord
for DVD+Plus.
