I know I had the same situation when I first installed FC4. I think that I was missing one package, and that I sorted it by doing a yum search on 'xmms'. I think that the difference is that mplayer doesn't use the xine engine. Sorry I can't help with specifics, but I think it was fairly easy to resolve when I used yum search - fairly clear what I might be missing. Anne
