I have resolved this issue.

First of all I had to move my smtpd.conf file to /usr/lib/sasl2/smtpd.conf

Next I had a problem with my mysql server not expecting a pwassword from my
email server

All resolved now ... Thank you all for the suggestions

I know I am probably just flustered cause I have a production email server
with no authentication support running... But for some reason I cant get
this one figured out.

In my logs I see this line

I am a loss for what this is telling me ... Which probably makes sense since
it is kinda telling me I don't have a path somewhere

Any help would be much appreciated

Perhaps you need to install the cyrus-sasl-plain package?

Paul.
