Ask grub what it thinks the drives are, by starting a command and pressing
the Tab key:

    boot (<TAB>

This can be done during boot or from the grub shell. As root:

    []# grub
    ....
    grub> boot(<TAB>
    ...
    <TAB>
    ...
    grub> quit
