Actually Microsoft has nothing to do with the ease of
installation of PCMCIA cards.  Its the mfg who made
the driver.

Microsoft does not make the driver.  The card mfg
does.

When I installed my wireless card Windows didn't know
what it was until I gave it the driver and its the
same with Linux.

Problem is someone beside the mfg has to write them
for Linux and that takes time.
