That's certainly a wise thing to do, and it'll save you time and the
hassle of badly burned CDs that seem to catch a lot of people (usually
several CDs into the install, as Murphy would have it).

Any decent burner software ought to be able to handle the .iso images.
But I have precious little experience with windows, so I can't
recommend any. I don't believe that the built in burning tools do iso
files properly.

It's more work than you need to do. You can grab the boot cd image
(boot.iso) from the Fedora download site (or any mirror):

http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/core/5/i386/os/images/

On a linux box you could also mount the iso image for the first cd
directly and copy/burn the boot.iso file from there, but since it's so
small it may well be easiest to just grab it from the web. :)

What is your existing linux box running? Fedora or something else?
