Where are you trying to download knoppix from? And, shouldn't a
question about knoppix actually go to a knoppix mailing list?

In any event....

ED2K is a protocol originally used by the P2P (Peer-to-Peer) client
eDonkey2000, which is where the name comes from. It is a server-client
based protocol, with the ability to exchange sources between clients.

Firefox isn't a P2P client...never heard of any plugins or anything of
the sort for it.

So, you may have to hunt around for a P2P client....

But, why not head over to http://www.knoppix.org/ and pick a mirror?
