the cpu runs at what speed? how much ram do you have? it's either it didn't match the requirements so it won't install or you'd need to specify a  linux installation option (i.e. acpi off or something like that at the front. press F2, F3 or F4 on the boot prompt when you boot to CD... and view the options.
