Can someone point me to a procedure for setting up a "wireless" adapter card?

I have ndiswrapper and the Windows driver that came on a CD with the Linksys [wmp54g] PCI card.

ndiswrapper -l
Installed drivers:
rt2500 driver installed, hardware present

I did modprobe ndiswrapper.

And iwconfig reports:

lo no wireless extensions.

eth0 no wireless extensions.

sit0 no wireless extensions.

wlan0 IEEE 802.11g ESSID:off/any Mode:Auto Frequency:2.412 GHz Access Point: Not-Associated Bit Rate:54 Mb/s Tx-Power:20 dBm Sensitivity=-109 dBm RTS thr:2347 B Fragment thr:2346 B Encryption key:off

ppp0 no wireless extensions.

This is as far as I got, don't know what to do next. I'd like to see some indication that it sees the router which is presently on an XP box about six feet away.

There are a lot of threads about wireless in the fedora-list archives since FC5 was released on 3/20. I would start there.
