The problems you found are very interesting, especially the one above.
It bit me almost immediately and I asked people to explain it. It only
seems to happen with certain sound cards. I have still not had a
successful explanation of the problem.
My "yum upgraded to FC5" machine did the same thing, to my ISA sbawe soundcard. After some updates, it now behaves normally... beats the heck outa me what changed. There are still burps in the barrel, udev is still hanging on boot. The howto's say it is dangerous to screw with udev settings. /etc/fstab.sys doesn't exist either. I never knew there was such a thing before. Googling for it has proven somewhat fruitless as to what actually creates that file and how and what it really does, that good ole /etc/fstab doesn't. New stuff on me.
