Yes.
There is also an increased security risk if
you *don't* disable.

I run with SElinux disabled, and IMO, it is
much more of a pain than it does good.

i have only one user (of course with root)

What's really more relevant is whether you have external
connections to your machine (like a modem), and whether
you have a firewall which is external to your machine.
