I am running FC5 upgraded from FC4 on a Dell Inspiron 600m. When my xscreensaver starts running the processor goes to 100%. It did not do this when I was using the Gnome screen saver. I am trying to switch back to the Gnome screen savers. Will keep you updated if the Gnome screen saver fixes my issue that is the same as yours.
