These days, most DVD recordable *drives* support both formats. A check
of a UK supplier (dabs.com) shows that they have
DVD±RW (±R DL) (33),
DVD±RW (±R DL) / DVD-RAM (28),
DVD±RW (+R double layer) (23),
DVD±RW (4),
DVD±RW (+R double layer) / DVD-RAM (2),
DVD±RW / DVD-RAM (1),
DVD±R (1),
DVD-RW (1)

The numbers in brackets are the numbers of products available.
Obviously, the vast majority support both DVD+R(W) and DVD-R(W).
