[FC4] How to configure PCMCIA wireless network card?

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hi all,

I learned that Kernel 2.6 supports wireless network card, but I failed
to configure D-Link DWL-650 card on my Compaq PRESARIO B2000 laptop in
Fedora core 4.

After plugging the PCMCIA card, I use iwconfig to show the wireless
device. But I got following result.

# iwconfig
lo no wireless extensions.
etho no wireless extensions.
sit0 no wireless extensions.

Could you anybody tell me why? Do I need to install other software
likes ndiswrapper or madwifi? Is it possible to use wireless device
without installing them?

My Fedora Core 4 kernel version is 2.6.15-1.1830_FC4.

Best regards,
Leon
