Hi,

Running Fedora Core 4 on Celeron 2.53 GHz PC, with no updates.
Installed VLC from livna repository.

Using NVIDIA GeForce Fx5500, 256 MB AGP graphics card.
Updated the driver from livna repository.

The CPU usage is at 50-60 %, when tried to play video clip (.mpg) of 20m (constant bit rate)

Surprisingly, when I installed Redhat Enterprise Linux 4 on the same hardware, the CPU usage is only 3 %.

Any ideas ?

Thanks

This I think would be a video hardware issue.

It smells like REL4 was using HARDWARE acceleration on your video card, whereas FC4 is not.

Have you tried playing with hardware acceleration or your video drivers?
