I used to collect computers by the score, now through the miracle of Yoga Meditation, I have lost all desire to acquire more than just one working Linux box... instead of losing the desire to eat meat. Geek Yoga... go figure. <g>
Pass the porkchops my way, please. Nama Skar.

I'll go back to the basics and try what you have suggested... I'm naive ( and lazy) enough to think that some little GUI will just up and do this stuff for me, kinda like it happens in that other OS world. It could happen one day, ya know... just not today. <waves hand> "My name is Ric, and I'm a GUI addict..." <hangs head dismally>

You did not say whether you tried this (at least in the emails I saw),
but.
ping 127.0.0.1 # can ! I talk to my IP stack
ifconfig -a # get my IP addr
ping myipaddr # Can I talk to myself
ping the windows box
ping the default gateway.
ping the DNS IP addresses you have.

That should provide some clues.
You might want to hang onto the hub, Most DSL routers only
handle 4 or 8 ports. When you get more computers than that,
the hub will come in handy.
