sounds like when you installed, you changed where it installed the grub
bootloader. It needs to be installed in /dev/hda

boot disk 1 again

type 'linux rescue'

follow instructions (chroot /mnt/sysimage)

type 'grub-install -v /dev/hda'

reboot
