I have got a jar executable file. What should I do to make that java

Make sure java(1) is world executable and make sure the jar file is
world readable.

Thanks, Christofer. I was thinking about putting it in /usr/bin. Is
that a good choice?

No. Read your manuals:-)

Sure! Could you please suggest to me the relevant documentation?

Paul

When I started out on Linux, I read the installation documentation, packaging, why stuff goes where it does etc.

In doing so, I disovered why /usr/bin is not the right place.
