You can run a local IMAP server, and access your procmail filtered mail
that way (with either mail client).  But I'm not sure if that'll be a
speed improvement over Evolution directly accessing local files.

I'm not overly thrilled with either mail client, though I like
Thunderbird far less than Evolution.  I wish there was something sort of
like "The Bat!" (it's for Windows, unfortunately, and I'm NOT going to
run an emulator).
