After reading through your post I decided to axe my 64-bit version of
Firefox and install the 32-bit version (to get the Java plugin working
correctly).   Creating the file described above I receive the following
message when trying to install firefox.i386:

No Match for argument: firefox.i386
Nothing to do

Does anyone have any suggestions?
