Re: Large Ramdisk creation causes crashes

Hi Andy,

I performed the test without a filesystem with the same crashy results. It's only when the ramdisk fills do I see problems (with or without a filesystem). I've tried other filesystems as well (ext3, reiserfs). I have also removed the raid from the tests as it seems like that is not part of the problem.

I'm still kind of stumped so if you have any ideas feel free to tell me :)

Thanks!

Brandon

The real problem I'm seeing is that as the ramdisk fills and there is
obviously memory free, the machine crashes. I did this on a local
machine rather than a remote one and the message that appears on the
console is an "Out of Memory" error.

Please consider to run the test without a filesystem I suggested
earlier. There's no point piling an ext2 filesystem and then raid on
top of what may be a machine-freezing substrate.
