Heya, as i was told once on this place, i recomend you to check sites on internet, faqs and a lot of stuff that will help you installing your SO.

On your partitioning problem i woud sugest if you'll run win-linux on same machine, install windows, then linux. If you allready got windows, then make a free empty partition with any program you may have (like partition magic for example or any other that you know how to handle), and then install your SO on that partition.

Im starting from the point that you allready have valuable information on your hard disk so thats why you need a partition.

Gluck.
