have you tried 
ping www.google.com 

aside from ping google.com.

www.redhat.com does not really reply most of the time ?, like cia.gov .
try 
mtr www.google.com 

and maybe it would lead you to a clue.

Ping defaults to small packets increasing the packet size will hep test
large packets to determine if that is the issue.
