He has done that i guess, if xmms can play mp3's
Check how a mp3-file is executed (File Associations, where it is, I
can't remember), probably with an xmms -e (which adds it to the
playlist) and not an xmms -p (which plays the file) and for rhythmbox
make it rhytmbox --play
