I am biased towards PostgreSQL as opposed to MySQL. Its closer to Oracle.

MySQL IS a SQL server. Or are you implying that you need Microsoft's SQL Server?

It's quite trivial to install and administer either MySQL or PostgreSQL on an FC box. I'd advise you look into either of those.
