How do I get Numlock to be on as standard in Fedora Core 4? Would like

Marcus,

Get numlockx-1.0.tar.gz and save it to a local directory. Uncompress
the files via "tar xvzf numlockx-1.0.tar.gz". Change to the newly
created numlockx-1.0 directory. Become the superuser, root, (i.e. su
). Follow the README directions.

An excerpt is presented here:

QUICK INSTALL :

First of all, make sure this package isn't already included in your
distribution ( e.g. Mandrake includes it ). If you distribution already
includes NumLockX, use their package instead ( it needn't be necessarily
called NumLockX, it may be e.g. part of some other package ).

Otherwise, do :
 ./configure
 make
 make install
 make xsetup
 make xinitrc

The later steps ( ./configure, make, etc.) are what you need to do. That's all there is to it!
Numlock should start for each user.

AFAIK this will not work!! numlockx only works up to RHL 9. Also, it's available as an rpm. The Fedora Cores require numlock & the latest version of Mandrake uses numlock. Are you using numlockx on any of the Fedora Cores successfully?
