I have a similar card:
(from lspci)
02:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV280 [Radeon
9200 SE] (rev 01)

which is working quite well with xorg-6.8.1 on an FC2 system.
Tuxracer runs at full speed etc. And I am not using the flgx drivers
from ati either.
