That would be a grub problem. Sorry to be somewhat inexact. It looks like your grub.conf file got messed up.
BTW, I'm happily running FC4 x86_64 with the current updates and a few wildcards like some RPMs from livna and freshrpms with no problems on a HP Pavilion laptop (zv6015us). Going to attempt to upgrade (FC3 -> FC4) the dual Athlon desktop tomorrow (Friday).
