And if you really DO need modems, there must be entire landfills full
of old serial modems around somewhere. I've got several of 'em lying
around the house here, 2x28.8 and 2x56k. Probably others have old
ones lying around too, so with some serious scrounging you may be
able to scare up 28.8/33.6/56k external modems by donation, especially
if it's a tax-deductible donation.

I've also got several old 28.8/33.6 USR internal (ISA slot) modems
lying around, of various models, should you feel the need for them.
They could be yours for the cost of shipping.
