I am experiencing the same problem, on different machines (AMD/Intel). Have
just started to dig in to this.
[root@toy ntfs]# rpm -q kernel-module-ntfs
rpmdb: unable to initialize mutex: Function not implemented
Have you by any change an environment variable LD_ASSUME_KERNEL
set to anything?
If you have, try deleting this variable and try again.
