Not only are there some here with similar laptops, there is whole

Just add the indicated line to /etc/modprobe.conf
options nvidia NVreg_Mobile=0

You need this for version 6629 on.  I'm using a patched version of
that driver since the 7100 series drivers seem to have issues with
bzFlag.
