I beg to differ. I think it is always best to use
rc.local only as a last resort. It is more elegant to
have the system do the loading automatically, than to
force the load by commanding explicitly in rc.local. I
have a bttv and it loads perfectly. As soon as I get
home, I will post the relevant sections of my
modprobe.conf.
