Better still, add it to /etc/yum.conf (see "man yum.conf" if you're
using the yum 2.2 package from updates-released). You will no longer
then need to set it in the environment.

I tried it didn't work, maybe my syntax is wrong I put in 

 proxy="http://my.proxy.com:3128";

Is that correct?
