Ext3 Rootfs with data=writeback?

Is it now possible to set your ext3 root filesystem to use data=writeback simply by modifying the /etc/fstab without mucking about with the initrd?

i.e. can the data journal mode now be changed on a mounted filesystem?

mount used to complain about: mount /dev/hda1 / -odata=writeback,remount

but does not anymore. However, I am unclear as to whether it really does it.

Thanks,
Steve
