FC3 is as ready as it ever will be, any "further period of 
development" is leading towards future versions of Fedora.

There won't be any "service packs" for FC3, instead there will be 
FC4, FC5, ...

Maybe you should try Red Hat Enterprise Linux or one of the 
no-cost redistributions (CentOS, White Box, Lineox,...)
