fatal RPM Error

I am running FC2 and I have been using RHN alert notification tool with no
problems until recently when I tried to update xemacs, xemacs-common,
xemacs-info. Now I keep getting "fatal RPM error. The message was: Error
reading header". How do I work around this problem?
