Depends on how often the sending server is doing queue runs. It can be as low as couple of minutes, or as long as one hour. Default Sendmail configuration on Fedora is to do queue run once per hour (this is ridiculus, for small installations, 15 minutes would be much more appropriate default), and I saw many other mail servers having similar defaults.


Also note that only the first email for particular (sending-ip, sender, recipient) triplet will be delayed. All susequent emails for that triplet will not be delayed (unless tiplet expires from database).
