Hello, Everyone
Could my issue with my USB2 devices (Iomega 52x external burner and Epson 2400
Photo Perfection scanner) dissappearing when they are plugged into the BACK
USB2 ports on our machine be related to the subject of this thread. If I
unplug them and plug them back into the front USB2 ports, the are immediately
redetected, and at least for a while, are functional. If I unplug them and
plug them back into the Back ports, they are redetected as well.
Unfortunately, when I lose functionality, I need to reboot. After a reboot,
everything is fine until one or both devices dissappears. Also, I had been
getting a lot of Zombie processes. For instance, if I suspect that our
scanner had gone bye-bye, and I run scanimage -L (maybe -l) the command
hangs, and I can't kill it unless I reboot. I have since installed a PCI
USB2 expansion card, and it has been 5 days since I have rebooted (that
probably translates to 5 days since I put that card in :))
If you would like more info, I can give you links to the previous threads that
I started on this problem.

Have a Great Day,
Steven P. Ulrick
