I thought the command was acpi=off.  In any case this system should not boot with ACPI as it is too old.

This system's BIOS should be < 2001.

RH9 did not default to using ACPI, but rather used APM.  FC3 uses ACPI and has to be disabled (and should be on your system) in order to use APM.

If you can boot the system using the Linux Rescue cd, and you are using GRUB, edit the kernel line to add:

acpi=off

This will force APM on.

Also, please look through the archives before posting a message to the list.  This subject has been discussed at length.
