The ldap server crashes in a way that all requests are

Thus all other host cannot be used any more, as user,
hosts and automounter lookups block the system

The last time I could start the master but again all
requests did not succeed. When I stop the master all works
well - using the slaves. After slapadd-ing the latest backup
the master works as expected.

Anyone has an idea?

your answer will lie in /var/log/slapd.log

I stopped loggin some month ago ... even level 256 was quite a bunch.

After the first strange crash I started the server in foreground with level
"-d -1" and I remember something like "out of locks".

This time, I did not have the time to look at the lines: some User where
angry because the could not read there Mails nearly the whole weekend.

Sorry, the next time I will keep the logs - hoping that somebody may understand them.
