Anyone had success with GIMP 2.2.2.0-fc3.3 x86_64 ?

I just installed the GIMP 2.2.2.0-fc3.3 x86_64 package via Up2date,
but it segfaults on startup consistently:
Jan 29 12:50:24 sarah kernel: gimp-2.2[12961]: segfault at
0000000000000019 rip 00000038cdf046c1 rsp 0000007fbffff010 error 4

I re-installed the 2.0 version from the distribution DVD, so it's not
really an urgent problem for me, but has anyone had success with this
package, or have any help/info/suggestions to offer?

By the way, starting from a console yields the following (which
suggests the need for an update to the glib libraries?):
